Week 26

Hello 1C Family,

I hope everyone had a fun 3 day weekend! The Chilson's sure did, we celebrated birthday's and wedding's this weekend and even found time to sneak in a nap or two. We have a busy week of learning ahead and I am excited to dive right in!

Homework

Nightly: read for 15 minutes, phonograms to practice- ar, er, x, ur, th, igh, oa, ch, e, y

Monday: No School 

Tuesday: war, summer, above, express, turn, lesson, half, father, anything, table and math wkbk pg. 65-66

Wednesday:  high, June, right, write, wrote, date, road, rode, ride, March, march and Test B

Thursday: Review all words for the Spalding test, math wkbk. pg.67-68

Friday: Review any errors from the Splading Test and math wkbk pg. 69-70

Announcements

Class Supplies- With more than half of the school year behind us, we are running a bit low on dry erase markers, Dixon Ticonderoga No. 2 pencils and Kleenex. We would be grateful for any of these item donations. Thank you!

Academics

Math: This week we will continue to subtract and add two digit numbers with one digit numbers. We will continue to identify tens and ones in two digit numbers. We will also learn how to add three one digit numbers and practice counting forward and backwards by twos in an effort to prepare ourselves for learning multiplication later on this quarter.

Poem: The Swing by Robert Louis Stevenson  Idiom: An Apple a Day Keeps the Doctor Away

Writing:  Students will be able to understand the basic conventions of a proper sentence and rewrite a model sentence.  We will read and write about sections of "Tom Sawyer" by Mark Twain and "The Velveteen Rabbit" by Margery Williams Bianco

Grammar:  This week we will use adjectives to describe different items and pictures. We will work to differentiate between nouns, verbs, and adjectives and understand how we use each of them independently of one another. 

Literature: We will read the last pages of A Bargain for Frances and complete various comprehension activities to conclude the book.

Science: 

History: This week we will learn about how Pizarro discovered the New World and defeated the Aztecs. We will also begin to learn about England’s reason for exploration.
